About me

Hi, I'm Garrett Gatlin.

People, especially large groups of people don't make much sense.

As David Ogilvy said, people don't think what they feel, don't say what they think, and don't do what they say.

I work on the stuff like that — the frustratingly intractable, existential questions about how organizations behave.

I figure out and document why organizations can't do what they want, and what to do about it.

Some nice things others have said

"A master architect of complexity. I've seen plenty of people analyze data and plenty of people manage projects. Garrett has this unique ability to take a massive, messy challenge and frame it so clearly that the solution feels inevitable. He doesn't just solve problems. He orchestrates resources and people like a conductor until the solution is actually running. His towering strength is how he tackles large challenges. Garrett has a method for understanding the problem, creating a pragmatic plan, and communicating it in simple terms. Then he works the plan with a focus on the metric that matters. Strong with executives. Not intimidated. Savvy. Garrett is deeply embedded in the work. In the mess. In the weeds. While also continuously aware and conscious. Able to step on the balcony while being in the mess, and not losing the trail. Garrett has a really unique way of giving everyone voice and space while still keeping complex work focused and moving the discussion forward. A gift for quiet leadership."
